I bought my scale in December, 2010. It stopped working on July 24, 2011. The same thing that happened to Karin Brown (see 1 star review) happened to me. I tried replacing the batteries, but that isn't the problem. Currently, if I press the on/off bar very hard and/or several times in succession, I can get it to turn on, but the on/off switch is obviously defective. I would be willing to "play" with the mechanism, but it's encased in plastic with no possible access.
I have used Soehnle scales for years and I loved this model for the kitchen for the 7 months it worked. I was going to give it another try because I've had such good luck with the brand in the past. Unfortunately, the price has increased by 50% - a bit steep for a product that doesn't work for more than 7 months.

This is an accurate ounce/gram scale with a 10 lb. capacity. Attractive enough to keep on the counter. Easy to use, subtracts tare simply. I am careful about portion control and use it regularly. Great for bakers in that using weight is much more accurate than measuring cups.
